And so it begins.
It's official. We signed the contract. At some (as yet undetermined) point before the end of this year, we will be moving to the Middle East, Qatar to be more precise, as my 5 year old would say.
We will leave our very nice house on our very nice street in our very nice school district and our very nice friends for points more or less unknown. But here is what we do know:
We will become expats, citizens of the world, starting right in the middle of it.
We will live in a villa in a compound, which is much less military and more gated community than it sounds.
We will eventually have both our children in private school, though the unknowns about that little feat are a post or twelve in and of themselves.
We will survive the incredibly complicated moving process, though it only seems vaguely possible to do so right now.
We will share everything we can with you, if only so we can later share it with ourselves when we're all done and the memories have faded and we're on to our next adventure.
We will all learn (at least a little) Arabic.
We will travel and have adventures and grow closer as a family and eat new foods and have crazy, unexpected emergencies and stay until we're done, whenever that is.
Until then, the next few posts will play catch up, explaining how we got here and why we are going there, as much as is possible.
Welcome!
